HDF5_INCLUDE_DIRS should be defined if you used find_package (HDF5). If you are not using the package, please do, or set the normal expected variables. And yes again, h5repack frees up the file. I use HDF5 1.12.0. By the way, if I do the same with variable-length string dataset then the filesize doesn’t grow.
