I was not sure if I miss something else :) I had a bit a look at the issue you mentioned: The manpage for Crypt::SSLeay has: The "Crypt::SSLeay" package provides "Net::SSL", which is loaded by "LWP::Protocol::https" for https requests and provides the necessary SSL glue. WebPERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME is only used to omit verifying the hostname in the certificate, not the certificate chain. But, because you are using a self-signed certificate chain verification will fail. This option was only introduced for the migration from the old Crypt::SSLeay backend to the new IO::Socket::SSL backend.

WebThe key is that "Crypt::SSLeay" makes calls to the OpenSSL library, and how to do so is specified in the C header files that come with the library. Some systems break out the header files into a separate package from that of the libraries. Once the program has been built, you don't need the headers any more. WebThe reason for that question is the simple fact that unless one takes explicit steps to force its use, Crypt::SSLeay is simply not used by current versions of LWP.
