If you want to strip a bolt head or nut, especially if it's square head, the best thing to use is a 12 pt socket. WebOct 15, 2012 · I think 6 pt are generally superior to 12 pt and you won't round the corners of nuts as mentioned. Another nut that it is important to use 6 pt is the bleeder screw on wheel cylinders and calipers especially if they are corroded and stubborn.
